Public-record checks
Lenders and investors look up your company before they say yes. See what they will see, and check that anyone offering you finance is who they say they are.
Your company on Companies House
Type your company name or number. We ask Companies House for the public record and point out anything a lender is likely to raise, such as overdue filings or an existing charge over the company's assets. What you type is sent to Companies House through our server to make the search. It is not logged or stored. Privacy
Is this lender or platform authorised?
This opens the FCA's own register in a new tab, so what you type goes straight to the FCA, not to us.
- Check the firm is authorised, or registered, for the activity it is offering you, not just listed on the register.
- Check that the website, phone number and email match the details on the register. Scammers copy the names of real firms (“clone firms”).
- Search the FCA Warning List for firms the FCA has warned about.
- Not every provider has to be authorised. Many types of finance for limited companies, such as invoice finance or a merchant cash advance, are not regulated. Each route page says whether its type of finance is regulated.
