Privacy
Short version. Fundladder collects no personal data. There is no sign-up, no account and no email. What you type into our filters and tools stays in your browser, except the company check, which passes a company name or number to Companies House and keeps nothing. We do not use cookies. We only count visits, anonymously and in total.
Who we are
Fundladder is a UK-based information service that maps the ways a UK business can raise money. For the little described below, we are the "data controller".
What you type
The ladder filters, the compare view, the fit finder and the "Am I ready?" lists run in your browser. Your choices are kept in the page address (the URL) so you can bookmark or share a view. We do not send them to our servers or store them, and we remove them from the page address before counting a visit (see below).
The fit finder's answers (such as how much you need, your turnover and whether you would give a personal guarantee) are kept in the part of the page address after the "#" sign. Browsers never send that part to any server, including ours. Your results are worked out in your browser, using fixed rules. If you bookmark or share a results link, anyone who opens it will see those answers, so treat the link like the answers themselves.
The company check
The company check is the one tool that sends what you type to a server. When you search, the company name or number goes to our server, which asks Companies House for the public record and sends the answer straight back to you. We do not log, cache or store the search or the result, and it is not tied to you. The search is sent in the body of the request, not the page address, so it does not appear in web addresses or server logs. Companies House receives the search from us, not from you, and the records it returns are already public.
The provider check opens the FCA's own register in a new tab. What you type there goes directly to the FCA, and the FCA's privacy notice applies.
Anonymous visit counts
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies, and it is designed so that visits cannot be tied to an individual or an IP address. For each page view it may record the time, the page address (without the parts after the "?" or "#"), the referring site, an approximate location (country, region and city), your device type, operating system and browser. A visitor is recognised for at most 24 hours using a short-lived hash, which is then discarded. We only see totals.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers process technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver pages to you and to keep the service secure. Some of this may happen outside the UK. Where it does, it is covered by an adequacy decision or an approved safeguard such as the International Data Transfer Agreement.
Our legal basis
Counting visits and keeping the site secure rely on our legitimate interests in running a useful, safe service. We hold nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing to keep or delete later.
Cookies
We do not set any cookies.
Links to other sites
Each route page links to its sources, such as GOV.UK, the FCA or the British Business Bank. When you follow those links, the other site's privacy policy applies.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how it is used. Because we do not collect information that identifies you, there is usually nothing we hold. If you ask, we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
